Merriman’s Waimea, Big Island

Chef Peter Merriman is an icon in Hawai`’’s food scene. Merriman’s, his flagship restaurant in Waimea on the Big Island, has definitely withstood the test of time. Located at 65-1227 Opelo Rd., Merriman’s is a fine dining experience that has pleased the most discriminating palates for over 20 years. Chef Merriman was at the forefront of Hawai`i’s regional cuisine movement and led the way in featuring menu items from local sources. He continues to support Big Island farmers, fishermen, and ranchers; his menu fosters a strong sense of place and demonstrates his loyalty to island-grown products. Complimenting the restaurant’s outstanding menu is an incredible wine list.

If you live on the Big Island or you are visiting and want to take a little ride off the beaten path, visit picturesque Waimea and experience the authentic flavors at the home of Hawai`i’s regional cuisine.  https://www.merrimanshawaii.com/waimea/

Epic Tours’ Mauna Kea Star Gazing Experience

This week our own The Hawaii Team Member Lisa Bell experienced a stargazing tour that she couldn’t wait to tell everyone about. It was the first thing out of her mouth when we arrived at the office the day after her amazing experience. I always thought you needed to go to the top of Mauna Kea to really see the stars, but Lisa taught us otherwise. She and her friend met James, their guide, who is also an Analog Astronaut  (whatever that is) and Professional Astro-Photographer, just off of the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (about 25 minutes from Waikoloa Beach Resort). She and her friend got into the tour van and James drove them to the viewing location where they viewed unbelievably beautiful “celestial objects and constellations”. = Whether you live on the Big Island or you are just visiting, this is an experience like no other and just one of the amazing activities waiting for you on the Big Island of Hawai`i.

You Don’t Know…What You Don’t Know

The saying, “You don’t know, what you don’t know” has been around a long time, and it may not be truer than here in Hawai`i. This is just a special place and as such what happens here doesn’t happen in most parts of the country. So, let’s look at some topics that a...
