There is only one thing in this breathtaking house located in the Summit that hasn’t been touched – the front door. In fact, it was the inspiration for the stunning Plantation style design that runs throughout the rest of the house.

As you walk into the entry, the first thing you notice is the gorgeous panoramic ocean view, which, because of the way the house is situated on the hillside and the Hawaiian foliage in the yard and beyond, is a truly tropical ocean view. The second thing you notice is the beautiful herringbone paneling just above the entryway, this, along with the new ceiling in the living area, is made to match the front door and bring the modern feel of a Hawaiian Plantation house into the heart of the home.

It is all about the details. There is Travertine flooring throughout the main living area which is easy to maintain and brings a touch of elegance to the home. Much like the front door, the fan in the living room was specifically sought out to continue the Plantation theme. The rest of the fans throughout the home are complementary to that main spectacular fan. The Plantation style is continued with the custom sconces throughout the entire house and the chandelier in the dining room is a piece of art, even the LED lightbulbs are reminiscent of a candle flame.

The dining room easily fits an eight-person table, but you find you will rarely use it when you can sit on your spacious lanai and enjoy a cup of coffee and the sunrise, or the evening sunset while barbecuing your favorite dinner. Both the dining room and the living room have sliding glass doors to create Maui’s best indoor/outdoor living. With those doors and the front door open it creates a heavenly tropical cross-breeze that is felt in each corner of the main living area and though the home has central air, it very rarely needs to be turned on.

The kitchen, like the rest of the house, has been completely remodeled. The countertops and backsplash are Volcano granite, which showcases the gorgeous color and movement of a volcano. The louvered cabinet doors, white along the top and brown along the bottom, with roll-out drawers, were custom built to match the doors throughout the home, again the attention to detail creates a bit of magic. The custom-built island not only serves as a large space to prepare food, stack the dinner dishes; all the while deliberately hiding the clutter behind the raised lip, or to just stand and stare at the view, but also extra storage. There are deep shelves all around the island, and two unique cooler drawers to store extra soda, water or mixers for an evening cocktail. Your chef will love the Bosch gas range, 2 ovens, a convection microwave – pizza night anyone! – and a large Sub Zero refrigerator.

The concrete steps leading down the yard and the variety of tropical plants have been widened by twice the original size, thus opening up the view even more. The lanai is equipped with custom-made see-through shades, operated by remote which block the sun, but not the view. The free-hanging slides are attached with a guideline so the beauty and integrity of the special Ohia posts remain undamaged.

Once the sun sets and you tear yourself away from the sweet-smelling night breeze, you can come inside and enjoy a movie night complete with surround sound. There are no wires to trip you up because they are either embedded in the wall or fed through a specially designed trench that runs under the living room floor and creates a clean and unencumbered living area.

The large master bedroom has room enough for a king-size bed and a cozy reading area, but what is remarkable is the huge walk-in closet and redesigned bathroom. A fan and large organizing system were put into the walk-in closet, creating more storage and a cleaner, cooler space. The piece de resistance, however, is the master bath. The bathroom has the same Travertine flooring as the main living area, not only on the floor, but on the lower part of the wall around the amazing stand-alone deep soaking tub, but also in the shower making clean up a breeze. So don’t listen to mom, and go ahead and splash in the tub. The attention to detail is evident here as well, the countertops are the same beautiful Volcano granite, and there is a decorative strip of the same granite that runs the entire width of the bathroom, drawing the eye to the rich, deep color of the granite. A custom bench was designed in the large walk-in shower and if you like a warm towel after your clean-up, there is a towel heater installed on the wall as well.

The second master bedroom is en-suite. It has a large sliding door to create airflow and several deep closets with new shelving. The bathroom has Volcano granite countertops and Travertine flooring which extends up the wall in the roomy walk-in shower.

The last room is perfectly set up as an office space, complete with built-in shelves in the closet that could hold everything from a printer to a collection of rare encyclopedias. However, with a door that leads to the guest bathroom, this room could also function as a third bedroom The guest bath has the same Volcano granite, Travertine flooring, and the small added Plantation style touches that make it, like the rest of the house, so beautifully unique.

The separate studio Ohana is one of only 7 in the Summit neighborhood. It has the same serene Plantation theme as the main house. It comes equipped with a kitchenette that houses a new Sub-Zero refrigerator, Travertine flooring, and Volcano granite countertops. There is a sliding glass door that leads to a small grassy area perfect for sitting and enjoying the cool evenings.

304 Wekiu Place is also one of the few houses in the Summit that has a private driveway and leads to a two-car garage. The yard and all the beautifully manicured and maintained Hawaiian foliage is taken care of and the property is the perfect “lock it and leave it”.

The Summit is a quiet, private, gated community on Kaanapali Hillside. It is a short drive down the hill to the beautiful white sand of renowned Kaanapali Beach and two golf courses. If you’re in the mood for dining in a restaurant, or shopping, Whalers Village, with both upscale and local surf store shops, is also just down the hill.

If you’re up for a short drive, you can choose to go South and explore Lahaina. You’ll find a wide range of fantastic restaurants, surf stores, and other various shopping outlets, all while enjoying a spectacular view of the ocean. A few minutes North, and you enter the Kapalua Resort area. Here you’ll find hiking trails, more beautiful beaches, some fantastic restaurants, and a couple of world-class golf courses.

So, whether you’re looking for a perfect family home or a peaceful Maui retreat, 304 Wekiu Place is a must-see.
