Hawai`i is a multi-cultural melting pot and one of the celebrated events is Chinese New Year. In 2023 Chinese New Year will fall on Sunday, January 22, and celebrates the Year of the Rabbit. The rabbit is one symbol of the Chinese zodiac, a repeating 12-year cycle of animal signs and their ascribed attributes, based on a lunar calendar. The animals representing each of the years are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. In Hawai`i, Chinese New Year is often celebrated with street parties or celebrations at public places like shopping centers, always featuring a Chinese Lion Dance, to bring luck and prosperity to merchants. There were no single-family home sales recorded in the months of August, September, October and December.
For the second month, Mauna Lani Resort led the way in condominium sales with deals closing on four units. Prices averaged at 97.3% of Sale to Current Price and ranged from $1.275M to $1.8M. The units were on the market an average of 52 days and unit price per square foot averaged out at $845.

2022 YEAR END MARKET STATS
Five homes sold in Mauna Lani Resort during 2022. Sales prices ranged from $4.250M to $10.9M, averaging at $7,508,900 or 95.1% of the Sale/Current Price. The homes were on the market an average of 101 days and the average price per square foot was $1,624.
Mauna Lani Resort neighborhoods were popular in 2022 with 53 condominium sales. Sales prices ranged from $1.030M to $5.5M, averaging out at $1,766,084 or 98.9 of the Sale/Current Price. The units spent an average of 25 days on the market and price per square foot averaged at $955.

MAUNA LANI EVENTS
Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival in Waimea town is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023. Each February the community of Waimea showcases its cherry trees, planted along historic Church Row, and the Japanese tradition of cherry blossom viewing – Hanami. Traditionally held the first Saturday of February, this free festival includes an all-day lineup of Japanese and multi-cultural performing arts, plus hands-on demonstrations of bonsai, origami, traditional tea ceremony, mochi pounding, and a host of craft fairs.
