National Homeownership Month | June 2019

by | Jun 26, 2019 | Blog | 0 comments

In June we recognize National Homeownership Month to celebrate the families who make their dreams come true by owning their own home. We also reflect on the impact that owning a home has on household wealth and the broader economic health of the United States.

There isn’t a better time to celebrate as summer and the biggest selling season of the year are in full swing. This holiday is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) acknowledgment of current and aspiring homeowners. They also highlight the organizations that work hard all year round to help homeowners achieve their real estate goals.

Is now a good time to buy?

Absolutely, the year over year statistics on sold price has increased by 3%, the number of new listings has increased by 13%, and the weeks of inventory has increased to 6 weeks which is a sign of a more balanced market.

“No matter what number you look at appreciation remains positive. Year over year median home prices were up 2.38% since April up 2.26%. This is climbing nicely given the slow start. Remember, 2% growth on a real estate asset gives you the homeowner/investor incredible returns given the power of leverage.”
