Featured Activity – Walking tour of Kailua-Kona
Kailua Pier, every Wednesday at 9:30am

History buffs will want to take this walking tour of Kailua-Kona and learn about the many historical places in this seaside village. The tours are led by Pelena Keeling, a lifelong resident of Kona and president and kumu hula of Kaulana Nā Pua, a nonprofit which guides at-risk Hawai`i Island youth and young adults in Hawaiian culture, values and traditions through hula and chant. Keeling take visitors on a free 90-minute tour through Kailua Village, pointing out significant sites and sharing stories of the past. Tours leave from the banyan tree adjacent to Kailua Pier at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

If you’re looking for a place on the water for Happy Hour, come down to Ali`i Drive and experience Huggo’s on The Rocks. Dancing is encouraged on the restaurant’s sand floor.

Huggo’s On The Rocks’ most popular cocktails include the mai tai and pina colada, and some of their best menu items are the fresh fish tacos, the sliders, the fish sandwich and its decadent desserts. This is a fun and welcoming place for a sunset cocktail, a casual meal, nightly entertainment, events, and more! They do get busy at prime times and they don’t accept reservations, so you can grab a cocktail and enjoy the entertainment from the bar area while you wait. If you want something a little more upscale, you can try their sister restaurant Huggo’s next door.
