ABOUT KONA HILLS ESTATES
Kona Hills Estates is a gated community located on the slopes of Hualālai Mountain, just south of the Kona International Airport. The neighborhood is intimate, with fewer than 50 custom-designed homes, each situated on a one-acre parcel. There are outstanding views of the coastline, and its elevation is ideal for enjoying Kona’s sunny weather and island breezes.
ABOUT HUALALAI VISTAS
Your neighborhood sits on the slopes of Hualālai, one of five major volcanoes that created this Island of Hawaiʻi. It has not erupted since 1800, but is still considered "active."
DID YOU KNOW?
Hawai`i’s love affair with the cowboy and ranching began in 1833 when King Kamehameha III invited Spanish-Mexican vaqueros to the Islands to teach cattle handling, giving birth to the Hawaiian Paniolo tradition. In 1847, John Palmer Parker established Parker Ranch in Waimea on two acres of land at Mānā, creating the nucleus of what would become a vast ranching empire. Ranching and paniolo traditions took a firm hold on Hawai`i Island, and in 1908, Waimea Paniolo Ikua Purdy, Jack Low, and Archie Ka‘aua achieved national recognition at the Frontier Days rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyoming, showcasing the skill and prowess of Hawaiian cowboys. A distinctive Hawaiian cowboy culture emerged from the vaqueros and paniolo's mutual love of music, admiration for family values, and hard work ethic. Today, the Paniolo are renowned for their expert roping and riding skills, developed and honed on the rugged terrain of the Hawaiian Islands.
