Featured Restaurant: Sushi Sam

Sushi Sam Restaurant offers an intimate Japanese dining experience featuring the expertise of Sushi Chef Sam Segawa. With more than 30 years of experience, including stints at restaurants in the Kohala Coast resorts – Mauna Lani, Hualālai and Kūki`o – Chef Segawa oversees a high-quality menu of traditional sushi, sashimi and Japanese cuisine which uses the highest-grade rice and freshest ingredients from Japan and locally sourced. An extensive list of rolls, nigiri and sushi are available as well as crowd favorites such as chicken katsu, Wagyu beef and tempura.

The restaurant is open for lunch, Tuesday to Friday: 11:30am – 2pm, and dinner, Monday to Saturday: 5pm – 9pm, closed on Sundays. Located in the King Kamehameha Mall (75-5626 Kuakini Hwy.), reservations are recommended, (808) 796-3535.

Featured Activity: Kohala Zipline Adventure

For the adventuresome, a zipline experience is the perfect way to see some of the island’s most beautiful scenery. A recommended activity vendor for ziplining is Hawai`i Forest & Trail, which takes guests to Kohala on the northern tip of the island where they will soar through canopies above the region’s birthright lands of King Kamehameha the Great. Choose from two zipline experiences – the Kohala Canopy Adventure set within a towering forest on a private nature reserve, or the Kohala Zip and Dip, which combines a zipline high above the forest floor, picnic with stunning views of the valleys and swim under a private waterfall fed by a cool mountain stream.
